The Pouch Support is an ostomy appliance belt that conceals and supports an ostomy pouch as well as provides peristomal hernia and leakage support. The pocket forming panel is designed to support an ostomy collection pouch in a secure, horizontal position on the wearer’s abdomen without interfering with the function of the ostomy appliance. The removable inserts, surrounding the belt’s stomal opening, support peristomal hernias and help prevent leakage. The Pouch Support holds the stoma pouch comfortably, allowing for discreetness and a more active lifestyle. The collection pouch is held completely covered and out of sight while allowing for expansion of the pouch. The support provided permits the wearer to engage in everyday activities with confidence and comfort. The pouch remains readily accessible for removal and cleaning with minimum adjustment and without removal of the belt itself.

THE POUCH SUPPORT BELT

The Pouch Support Belt was designed to fulfill several different needs for the ostomy wearer. This soft, breathable belt holds the pouch securely and comfortably against the body while also serving as a discrete and attractive cover-up.

The Pouch Support secures the pouch in a horizontal position and allows it to fill normally. The weight of the pouch is supported and you will find that it is less noticeable under your clothing. The Pouch Support can be worn comfortably for extended periods of time with confidence.

The Pouch Support is manufactured commercially in the USA using the highest grade components. It is made of an extremely soft and comfortable Cotton/Lycra stretch fabric and is machine washable and long wearing. It is breathable and even on the hottest days one would not be aware that it is on. Support is given to the pouch allowing it to fill normally. It has been found that when removing the belt there is no need to reposition the pouch to a vertical position, just let it hang down and it works fine. If you are using a two-piece system you can turn the pouch and re-attach it vertically should you choose. The Pouch Support has been tested for use by many ileostomy and colostomy wearers. As normally suggested, the pouch should be emptied when approximately one-third full. Wearers of urostomy appliances will need to empty the pouch more frequently so as to minimize liquid contact at the stoma. A filling pouch is less noticeable under clothing and can get longer wear time from each flange. The belt is great for holding the pouch securely during exercise, and when you remove your clothing you won't feel self-conscious while wearing this attractive and discrete band around your middle. You may choose to wear the belt as a regular part of your clothing, or just wear it as a cover for intimate times or for support during sports activities. We find the Pouch Support to be of great benefit and we are convinced that when you try it, you will too.

WHO CAN USE THE POUCH SUPPORT BELT?

The Pouch Support is adaptable for either right or left side stomas and is used by colostomy, ileostomy, or urostomy wearers who use a standard size collection pouch. It may be used with either one-piece or two-piece pouch systems. Simply participate in life's activities with comfort and confidence.

"I have always worn my pouch vertically. How can it fill properly and not affect my stoma in the horizontal position?"

The Pouch Support allows the pouch to fill horizontally (without affecting the stoma) the same way it fills while you are sleeping at night. You should empty the pouch when you start to feel the weight of the output which is usually when it gets about one-third full. One-third full is the level at which the pouch manufactures recommend emptying anyway.

BELT FABRIC

The Pouch Support is made in the U.S.A. using the highest quality components. The 90% Cotton 10% Lycra stretch fabric is very soft and comfortable, and the stretch of the fabric gives it some leeway in waist size selection. The removable support contains synthetic rubber. DO NOT USE if you are allergic to synthetic rubber. If a reaction occurs, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

The belt is designed to be worn slightly snug. The Pouch Support is machine washable in warm water. The inserts can be washed and dried while remaining in the belt. Do not bleach but you may tumble dry.

The Pouch Support is available in a natural skin color, and comes in five sizes (see chart below) to fit adults and children wearing standard size collection pouches. It is adaptable to either right or left side stoma placement.
