Posted by barbie1go on 08/18/00:There are bag liners now available from the States, I received some complimentary samples. They look really handy and you can just flush these internal pouch liners not using as many regular pouches. I’m giving them a try as it seems better than having to worry constantly about where to dispose of my bags. I’m in Canada and gave them to some of our members at our local ostomy group to try.
Give C&M a call.

In reply to “Bag Liners” posted by Paula on 09/10/00:I was asked about a bag liner one can use with their regular pouch to use as a disposable. They say it is so that they can empty it easier. Have you heard of this? Or possibly a pouch cover that holds in case of a leak?

Posted by Cherri on 09/19/00:I have found that if I dilute a bottle of liquid hand soap and squirt it around the edge (in the slot) that I get a better seal. Also you have to develop getting all the wrinkles out before you snap them together. My flange is 1 3/4 inch so I cut off almost a inch to have less plastic to wrinkle up. I have not have any problems with our city sewer or my place of work- I flush twice just to be sure as so many toilets have water conservation. I was also surprised how long a box lasts. At first I chose when and wear to wear them but am using them 100% now.

Hello Barbara,
I have only good comments about the liners. I use them continuously, day and night, at home or out. I just do not want to ever have to clean another bag again. This solution is sooooooo clean. They are terrific and I will recommend them to my ostomy friends, cyber or otherwise.
Thanks, Marie

Dear Barbara,
I just wanted to thank you again for your personal response to my inquiries. Thank you so much for having the flushable liners available! Being a new ostomate person I am still so unsure of so many things dealing with an ostomy and you have put my mind more at ease along with the products you have to provide. You will make my adjusting to an ostomy so much easier. I do not have insurance at the present time and so your liners will help me to have such a savings in my supplies and that is a blessing in itself. I can promise you that any one I come in contact with that has a ostomy will hear of you and your fine products. I will definitely refer your company to other people and in fact I showed your site to my nurse this morning as she had never heard of a disposable pouch. She will be sharing this information with others. You really have lifted my spirits today! May God bless you for what you are doing and for being such a kind, caring and devoted person to your customers. I am truly blessed.

THE LINERS AND WHAT IT CAN DO FOR YOUAfter four years of frustration I decided there had to be a better way for me to be free of the many problems I faced when I was away from home. It took me three more years to finally complete the FLUSHABLE LINER. I hope, like me, after you have used the LINER for a while, you will never again be without it. I change my LINER three or four times a day and I change the flange every five days, also the pouch as I like the feel of the new pouch at change time. On the other hand, if you replaced the pouch filter every time you changed the flange, there would be no telling how long you might be able to use the same pouch. The LINER is designed to fit the pouch opening as closely as possible. After you have inserted the LINER and blown it out, use two fingers of one hand in the pouch opening to hold the LINER, then gently pull the exposed part of the LINER all round until it snugly fits the pouch opening. You are now ready to apply the pouch. In the picture take notice at the way the liner folds over the pouch ring and has been trimmed slightly to make it easier when it is connected up. The lighter area indicates the shape of the liner within the pouch. Make sure the LINER material completely covers the flange coupling. I always snap the (new flange, LINER, and pouch) together a couple of times before replacing my flange; it makes it much easier to seal when fitting them together the first time. Always make sure that the seal between the pouch, LINER, and flange is secure when you change the LINER. If this is not done, the pouch could work loose. If you are using the floating flanges this is probably not a problem, but be alert, some systems are more secure than others. If at first the pouch is a little hard to close, use a very light film of liquid soap around the flange ring. Remember!! When changing the LINER, always wipe the flange ring clean. When removed, the LINER flushes very quickly. You can improve the LINER performance so that it will be empty at the end of the line by taking the two flat sides of the LINER at the neck end in your two hands and then pulling it apart. Now flush it down. I have used the LINER with great success for nearly four years now and it has been my ticket to a new life style. I now go wherever I want to go without restriction. I now also have a (disaster kit) which includes (1 box of 300 LINERS, 12 flanges, and 12 pouches, all in a small water proof bag.) I am safe for at least two months with no worry under the worst conditions.
I SINCERELY HOPE THIS LINER WILL BE AS GOOD TO YOU AS IT HAS BEEN TO ME!

Hi Barbara:
Oh wow! These liners have changed my life! What a tremendous difference the liners make. I love the liners and have regained my freedom & independence. As little as 2 weeks ago, I would have begged off to stay closer to home and not joined my friends for lunch. Not anymore! I’m finding out that the world is still out there and better than ever. I can’t thank you enough for advising me to try the liners. Now, I won’t leave home without them and nothing stops me now. I have adjusted very well and don’t know how I managed so long without the liners. I just wanted to write and let you know that I’m really enjoying life again, thanks to you and your dedication to improving the quality of life for ostomates. Anyway, I’m out and about for the day.Regards,
Chris

THE POUCH SUPPORT BELTA “take down” is the term I heard the doctors use just before they went in for surgery to re-connect my intestines and colon. I hadn’t heard it before that. I found your support belt by desperately searching the internet. I hope you don’t mind that I e-mailed the United Ostomy Association and the International Ostomy Association about your pouch support system and asked them to make the information public to their members. Both of the organizations emailed me back, and said they would consider making the information known to their members. They may email you asking for support. I hope you don’t get swamped with donation requests. I was only trying to help others who might be experiencing what I went through, and hoped I could send them your way to get a pouch support system. I can’t believe that my stoma nurse, and medical supply companies in a city as large as Dallas couldn’t locate a pouch support. The colostomy bag was hell before I started using the pouch support. I can’t imagine how I would have been able to make it through those months with a bag without your help. I remain grateful. I hope my messages to the ostomy associations send you some business. You know, you may be sitting on a “gold mine” with your product. My opinion is that everyone who undergoes an ileostomy ought to be given information about a pouch support while in the hospital. With some good marketing (possibly through the UOA and local branches, major hospitals, and/or stoma nurses), your product is a helpful one and something every patient needs. Best of luck to you.

Dear Barbara,

Over a year ago we sat in the hospital waiting room as my mother underwent surgery for colorectal cancer. We never considered that she may have an ostomy and felt confident it could be avoided. Unfortunately, we saw the surgeon’s face and knew instantly what he had done and said it was best.  We were terrified to tell her when she woke up.  She took it well and had wonderful nurses to teach her what to do.  One nurse recommended the liners and we said we would check on them when she was released. When she got home she would hardly walk because of the awkward bag that hung down.  She was afraid to do anything and life seemed like imprisonment.  We changed to a smaller pouch and found the flushable liners and she is alive again. She now does everything and more.  The liners have truly made her life liveable again.  She can enjoy so many activities and travel without the fear of finding a place to dispose of the pouch. The liners are truly a lifesaver and I am thrilled to have my mom back. I am so thankful that you have brought these liners to the public. You have no idea how lucky we feel to have found you. Your business is really helping people.

Thank you,
Melissa

Hello Barbara!  I have sent to you the email that I sent to all of the friends and family on my email list, informing them about your company, and telling them the story of the pouch covers that you made for my friend.  My friend doesn’t do email, but she asked me to thank you so much for what you have done. I just wish you could have been there when I gave  her the pouch covers!   I am truly  hoping that my email will produce new customers for your company, and help other ostomy patients.  Many thanks, and may God’s Love, Peace, and Blessings be with  you always, Margaret
